When it comes to sculptures, a lot of people in Japan still would imagine something either out of stones or woods. Yet, when I learned sculptures abroad, they were different. Sculptures were more broad like `3 dimensional structures.` They started with the thoughts artists would like to express, and then based on them, they explored the mediums.
I learned so much through the classes. Just like musicians who feel comfortable with particular musical instruments, we all are born with some specific features and it is all by nature for us to feel closer to what we end up with. So far, in the classes, I felt closer to natural materials such as cardboards and newspapers. There are so much more to discover and whenever I work on them, there are always something new. It surely takes time to face the mediums, but the sculptures have explosive energy within themselves and I truly love them.
